How long have you been in business?

For over 30 years, Gilligand’s Agency has been providing tours to the most intriguing destinations in the world.  Our tours are by air, land, and sea.


What kind of trips do we offer?

We have adventures that range from short week-end get-aways to multi-week trips. We explore the world by air, by cruise ship, by train, automobile, camper, and foot. The entire family is welcome. We will custom arrange your trip to any part of the city.

How do I know what the trip to Anchorage is like?

We would be happy to further discuss your trip with you!   Highlights include  Alaska Native Heritage Center, Anchorage Museum of History and Art and Prince William Sound.

What is your maximum group size?
We keep our groups small - usually less than 16 participants.


What if I am traveling alone?
Wonderful! About half of our trip participant are individuals traveling alone. We also have people traveling with a friend, a spouse, or their entire family! We get single men as well as single women traveling with Gilligand’s Tour Guides. It is a safe, convenient way to experience a new part of the world. (Note: Prices are based on double occupancy. If you are traveling alone, and wish to share accommodations, we will assign a roommate if one is available. If you request single accommodations, or if a roommate cannot be found, you are requested to pay the single supplement. Single rooms are limited, and are based on availability.)

Where can I find a fuller description of the city?
Anchorage has many charming inns and fine restaurants for dining. If you prefer hotels or campgrounds, these will be made available. Our camping trip arrangements are exceptional and comfortable. For example, you might want to camp at the Alyeska Resort. Hot water is available, and a full camp staff takes care of all the chores!  Additional information is available at www.anchorage.com.

Who are your guides?
Our guides are skilled tour guides. Besides leading our own trips, we find knowledgeable local experts to lead our guided tours at historic sites in the city. We form business partnerships with local companies to provide expert leaders, transportation, hotels, and other services. These men and women know Anchorage intimately, and are enthusiastic and accommodating. They "show you the sights" and entertain you every step of the way.  All of our guides are avid cross-country skiers.

What's the food like?
On hotel and inn-based trips we dine in local restaurants and have the pleasure of experiencing a variety of local cuisine. is a Anchorage favorite, along with fresh fruits and delicious baked goods. A trip to the site of the World-famous Iditard Sled dog race is a must.
